  • What if I have a car accident whilst driving in Spain on holiday

When possible, road users involved in an accident should assess the situation and the priority measures to take in order to guaranty traffic safety without destroying forensic evidence, provided that this does not jeopardise the safety of the victims or the traffic. They should attend to the injured, request the assistance of the rescue services and try to move it to the hard shoulder or lay-by. Adequately mark the presence of their vehicle on the road by placing two warning triangles one 50 metres in front of the car and another 50 metres behind, so that they are visible to approaching drivers from at least 100 metres.

Those witnessing an accident are obliged to tend to the victims and seek the attendance of the emergency services. Casualties that are clearly not serious need not be reported to the authorities or their agents. SOS telephone posts are normally available on motorways only, in all other roads presence of traffic police is high. In any case, the assistance of other drivers should also be sought.

In the event of an accident you should call 112 and in case of assault or criminal offence on the road, it may be reported in English by calling the police on 902 102 112. Should the need for counselling arise, drivers are advised to contact their consulate in the area.

  • What if I require medical treatment or health care whilst on holiday

You will require your European Health Card (EHC):
The European Health Card has now replaced the former E111 temporary stay form. It entitles you to the same medical care, identical to that received by Spanish citizens. It is valid for the period shown on the card. If you have not yet got yours, you may apply for one on line, visit www.dh.gov.uk/travellers

Having shown your European Health Card (EHC), you will be seen by a GP during surgery hours at a local health centre or at your accommodation if you are unable to make the journey. If you need to see a specialist or go into hospital, the GP will give you the relevant medical certificate or referral. Accident and Emergency services are available at general hospitals and medical centres in holiday resorts.

Private doctors and hospitals in Spain do not accept the European Health Card. If you require private healthcare you must settle your own bills or take out an insurance policy that covers it.

If you do not posess or forget your European Health Card you will have to pay any hospital, medical or pharmaceutical bills in advance and seek reimbursement from the relevant organisation in your country of origin, providing all receipts.

  • What is the weather like on holiday in Spain

The South East Mediterranean coast is known for dry summers and mild constant temperatures during the winter. During your luxury spanish resort holiday in Spain, you will enjoy more than three thousand hours of sunlight on average per year. Due to this it is clear to see why the region is one of the warmest in Europe.

The South East Mediterranean coast of Spain is notorious for its low humidity levels, Murcia in particular. This provides all holidaymakers, golfers and other tourists to Spain with warm comfortable weather. Due to the low humidity, the temperatures tend not to feel as hot as it actually is, resulting in a glorious setting to participate in activities without feeling the intense heat. The weather is a favourite for both family holidays and the golfer who enjoys a stunning luxury golf break in the sun.
